HOJ is built on a passion for hard work and a mind for productivity design. Denmark native Henning Hoj started the company as a one-man operation in 1964, bringing his background in mechanical engineering and productivity—as well as his wife, Inge, and children—to Salt Lake City, Utah. Henning’s early aim was to provide racking, shelving and equipment solutions to industry in the Intermountain region, while raising his family amid the area’s beautiful vistas.
From the company’s humble beginnings, HOJ has grown to a team of more than 150 employees and $60M in annual sales. HOJ is still headquartered in Salt Lake City.
Henning Hoj retired from his position as president of the company in March 2012 (at age 82!), but currently serves as chairman and still comes into the office daily to put his 60 years of experience with engineered equipment and systems to use.
Henning’s son, Peter Hoj, who joined the business in 1987, is now president with a focus on the service side of the business, and son Tim Hoj, who came aboard in 1992, is CEO and in charge of sales. They’re two of the company’s many tenured, highly skilled employees who make it possible for HOJ to provide successful design and completion of any type of system.
